Though there is some pain, it's often less than people imagine. Laser hair removal targets your hair follicles with a very hot laser, but you won't feel this heat or any burning. Instead, you might feel a sensation similar to having an elastic band snapping against your skin. In our clinic we use freeze technology to maximise your comfort. It cools the skin to a maintenance temperature throughout your treatment.

However, some people may feel the laser more than others. There are also some contributing factors to feeling the laser more. These being; time of the month, how much hair is in the area, individual pain threshold and skin types. The treatment is super quick so any discomfort isn't prolonged.

You can expect a 10% - 25% reduction in hair even after the first treatment. To remove the hair in a higher percentage, most patients need around 6-8 sessions. However, the number of sessions truly depends on the individual, the area being treated, the thickness/colour of the hair, skin type, hormonal and hereditary conditions.

YES!! The laser is safe to use for hormonal conditions.

Although, hormonal conditions such as PCOS, or polycystic ovary syndrome can often cause excessive hair growth in unwanted areas. Laser hair removal can effectively manage this condition. You may require more frequent treatments. This is because new hairs may start to grow which haven't been treated. Laser hair removal can only remove hairs in the anagen growth stage, it doesn't prevent new hair growth. However, having laser on your face can prevent any unwanted ingrown hairs from waxing or stubble from shaving so your skin will be clear and smooth.

- Do not expose yourself to UV (Sunbeds / Sun Exposure) 30 days pre treatment.

- Do not use deodorant or moisturiser in the treatment area on the day of your appointment.

- Do not apply fake tan or have any last remaining bits left on the skin when coming for your appointment.

- Do not epilate/wax/pluck/thread or shave the treatment area before your patch test as your therapist needs to see your hair. It may be trimmed if you prefer, but no less than a 5mm.

- Bleaching creams or perfumed products such as aromatherapy oils should be avoided 24-48 hours before treatment.

- Do not swim in strong chlorinated water immediately before treatment.

- Avoid exfoliating, microdermabrasion or skin peels up to 1 week before treatment.

- Cleanliness of the area being treated is expected.

-Avoid wearing deodorant on the day of your treatment. It can act as a barrier & affect your underarm results.

- Avoid wearing moisturiser in the treatment area on the day of your appointment. This can act as a barrier.

- You should shave the treatment area the day before your appointment.

- Do not expose skin to UV (sun exposure, tanning beds) 30 days prior to treatment.

- Fake tan should be removed 1 week prior to your appointment.

- Do not depilate, wax, pluck or thread the treatment area. Shaving is the only acceptable method.

- Do not use bleaching creams or perfumed products (e.g. aromatherapy oils) for 24hrs-48hrs prior to treatment.

- Avoid swimming in strong chlorinated water immediately before treatment.

- Avoid exfoliating, microdermabrasion or skin peels for 1 week prior to treatment.

- Avoid wearing tight clothing when attending treatment sessions if treating the body.

- Treatment area should be freshly washed & dried immediately before appointment with no products left on the skin.

- Keep the body hydrated, drink lots of water.

- Protect the skin from sun exposure and SPF 30+ should be worn at all times during the treatment programme.

- Hot and humid weather can make the skin more sensitive prior to treatment.

Sunbeds should be avoided 30 days pre & post treatment. All fake tan should be removed before your appointment. No product can be left on the skin. Products left on the skin can act as a barrier, resulting in less effective results.

Any skin exposed to UV is likely to burn so letting your therapist know if you have been exposed or any changes regarding your skin is important. You may need to be re-patch tested.

The only acceptable method is shaving/trimming. You can not wax/pluck/epilate. Please come to your appointments fully shaved on the area that is being treated. Any hairs left on the surface of the skin may cause discomfort.

- Avoid fake tan for 7 days.

- Always wear SPF30+.

- Do not pick or scratch & avoid rough handling of the area.

- Do not epilate/wax/pluck or thread treatment area throughout the whole course of treatments. Shaving is the only accepted method.

- Using an aloe vera gel after treatment can help soothe the area.
